FILE PREPARATION

Preferred Formats: Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF) are preferred for screen printing because they maintain resolution regardless of size.

If designing raster (pixel-based) images in Adobe Photoshop, the artwork needs to be at least 300 DPIat the scale of the print and provided in a layered format (PSD, TIFF, PDF) should be at least 300 DPI at the final print size.

Screen Print Colors:HDPC offers a variety of ink colors. We print using standard plastisol inks, which follows the Coated Pantone Matching System. You can choose from our stock inks via our ink sheet. If you have a specific PMS color you need to match, we can custom mix for $35. If you don't provide ink callouts, we will select for you.

Print Detail Minimums:Minimum line thickness for most screen printing applications is ~1pt line thickness (or 0.015 in). Reverse (knockout) prints is ~2pt line thickness (.030 in).Maximum halftone frequency is 55 LPI.

Embroidery Thread:HDPC offers a variety of stocked threads for embroidery.

Keep in mind there is not an infinite amount of thread options, so be kind when trying to perform an exact color match.

In addition, our satin threads have a shine which in any light or angle, variably adjusts the look/color/shade. These elements give variance to the look and even a perfect match at certain angles may not look 'perfect'.

SPOT COLOR & HALFTONES

In screen printing, we convert gradients into tiny dots in order for the ink to pass through the mesh of the screen. We use tiny dots (in the ranges of 35 to 55 LPI) to translate a gradient effect. Keep in mind the mechanical print process is NOT the same as what you see on a digital screen and there is fidelity loss due to the print medium. Ranges between 1%-15% and 85%-99% have issues holding details in screens and in the print due to limitations with halftone imaging and dot gain.

IMPRINT & LAYOUT SIZE

If not specified, High Desert Print Co will use its expertise to layout customers' artwork and copy in the most attractive manner. Printed merchandise cannot be returned if layout was not specified and discounts cannot be given.

DEFINITIONS

SCREEN PRINTING

Screen Printing is the primary form of apparel decoration. Screen Printing is the process of passing ink through a stenciled, emulsion coated silkscreen directly onto the surface of a product. Its mechanical process allows for efficiencies in cost and production, allowing for intricate perfection on a bulk scale.

EMBROIDERY

Embroidery is the process of stitching logos and/or text via thread onto garments directed by a digitized version of the image.  Embroidery is a great alternative to screen printing if are you are still looking to add value to your garments.  Contrary to popular belief, it is also a cost-effective solution to your branding.  Unlike screen printing, the number of color threads used does not necessarily increase the price.  Often, customers prefer the style of embroidery for a clean, professional look. Popular products to embroider are sport shirts, polos, and jackets.  Embroidery is the primary and most customizable form for caps and other headwear.

HEAT TRANSFER

Heat transfer application is the use of an industrial grade, pressure loaded heat press to transfer specially made materials onto fabric.

DIRECT TO FILM TRANSFER

Waterbased, full color heat applied transfers.

DIGITAL BANNER PRINTING

Large format CMYK inkjet printers are used to print directly onto assorted rolls of vinyl material. The full color printing allows for unlimited customization and full bleed.
